Texas Dive Bars by Raf Miastkowski, published by Johnny Vacay, began when the iconic Dry Creek Cafe in Austin was set to close and the writer stopped in for one final round. Over the next three years he crisscrossed the state, visiting hundreds of dive bars from the Panhandle to the Gulf Coast. The result of more than 25,000 miles on highways and gravel roads, it is part travelogue, part cultural record, capturing the grit, charm and strange beauty of a vanishing piece of Texas.
