Apothia at CHROME

IF in every format: the eau de parfum and travel spray, the 0.3 oz perfume oil roll-on, the lotion and travel lotion, the air mist, the sanitizing mist and its travel size, the candle, the reed diffuser and the aromatic pad. Bronzed — orange blossom and jasmine — comes as a travel eau de parfum, a 1.7 oz and a 0.3 oz roll-on, an air mist, a candle and an aromatic pad set, and Soul as the 50 ml eau de parfum, travel parfum and roll-on. About twenty pieces, most around $55; the collection shows only what's in stock.

Apothia is Ron Robinson's fragrance house — the name is Apothecary plus Utopia — from the man who opened Ron Robinson on Melrose, was one of the original pioneers of Fred Segal, and has spent more than three decades finding brands. IF is the signature: bergamot, yuzu, cassis and grapefruit up top, tuberose, pikake, jasmine and gardenia in the middle, and a dry-down of musk and moss. The eau de parfum is made in Los Angeles and is free of sulfates, phthalates and parabens.

Layering: the lotion and the roll-on stretch the eau de parfum through a long day, and the candle or diffuser puts the same scent in the room. See fragrance for Boy Smells, candles for Nest and Glasshouse, and beauty for the rest of the shelf.

Questions we get about Apothia

What does Apothia IF smell like?

White flowers over citrus — tuberose, jasmine and gardenia with grapefruit and yuzu — drying down to a soft musk.

Which IF should I start with?

The travel eau de parfum or the 0.3 oz roll-on if you're new to it; the full bottle once you're sure.
