Not only are they a Van Winkle Family favorite, but they are an iconic part of bourbon history. Ruth Hanly Booe (of famed confectionery, Rebecca Ruth Candy) is responsible for dreaming up these delicacies in 1938 and they quickly became a Christmas tradition in the South.
